Chapter 15

Alick

Everybody knew kisses came at the end of a wonderful date, mates or not. Kenzie, Lorne, and even Boyd had agreed about that, and Boyd hated to agree with anything that Kenzie and Lorne agreed on. That was mostly because he was a Dom and overly dramatic, though.

But it’d been a great date and a perfect afternoon, even when Grady had been fucking with me…which he liked to do a lot.

Some Daddies were just like that, though.

And driving me crazy made him happy…that was nice too.

So since he’d been happy a lot since we’d met earlier, that meant I was supposed to get an incredible good night kiss.

But what if I didn’t want a kiss on the lips?

He hadn’t asked me specifically how far I wanted to go, but he was my mate and he was sweet and sexy and a little bit nuts. He’d even been horribly unsubtle as he’d made his point about not being shocked by anything on my list.

He was such a butthead sometimes.

Nope. Had to stay big.

“Touch me. The fucking roads are starting to disappear. I know there was a turn here earlier.” Grady’s grumbling tone snapped me back to reality and I reached out to quickly touch his arm. “Thank you.”

As he mumbled something about fucking idiots and mages with too much time on their hands, I had to try not to laugh. I wasn’t subtle enough, though, and he shot me a quick frown. “Something funny?”

Oops.

What would Kenzie do?

What would Kenzie do?

No, what would Lorne do?

“No, Daddy. I was just trying to decide if the magic needed me to touch your hand or if I could be touching…something else.”

Yep, Lorne was insane but a genius.

“Best distraction ever. You win the prize.” Shaking his head like he couldn’t believe I’d just won an Oscar, he sighed. “Yep, that was a really good one. You’re going to need a reward.”

It felt safe to laugh at that point, but I didn’t let it go on long.

As quickly as I could, I fought to keep a straight face and smiled. “Thank you?”

Grady chuckled, his eyes sparkling as he turned down the correct road without any help. “You’re welcome. And I’m amazing. These fucking roads are nuts. I knew my GPS wasn’t haunted.”

Was that a thing?

Nope, I wasn’t going to get distracted.

“We’ll get you fixed up right away so you can find your way around town.” And someone was going to have to fix the roads because the spells were all kinds of wonky. “I’m really sure the spells weren’t this obvious before.”

I just wasn’t sure when before was.

Grady scoffed. “Someone half-assed recharging the spells.”

He seemed sure of that but I had no idea what he meant. I wasn’t involved with any of the maintenance committees, and I couldn’t even begin to guess what had gone wrong. “Lorne’s mage mate…he’ll know who to talk to. He just might not have driven in this area recently.”

He’d been kind of busy keeping Lorne from doing stupid shit.

Like talking him into a spell that gave my mate a compulsion.
